# Membrane Score

## Intent

Membrane Score is an original short-form sound instrument with a complete silent visual route. The fictional Tessaryn project lets a visitor combine rhythm, texture and tone, change their intensity and retain a recipe on the current device. It is both a visual composition and a comprehensible working instrument. Audio never starts before an explicit button action. A finite eight-bar session stops itself, while pause, volume and mute remain ordinary visible controls. There is no therapeutic, productivity or commercial claim.

## Signature

Preserve five relationships: three separately named sound layers; light membrane drawings on dark burgundy; intensity-linked stable meters; visible tempo and texture choices; and a readable recipe that agrees with the instrument. A uses three broad horizontal score lanes below a direct invitation. B places a mood-recipe index beside three vertical channels. On phones all three channels become a compact set of vertical strips with practical sliders. The recognizable structure comes from sound-layer relationships rather than a decorative moving background.

## Typography

System Arial carries large light-weight invitations and practical labels. Large headings use short deliberate lines and tight spacing, while layer names use restrained capitals. Supporting copy remains at an ordinary reading size and describes each real synthesized source. Numeric outputs remain beside their labeled sliders. The Lithuanian colophon and real controls exercise accented glyphs without downloaded fonts. Phone type adapts to channel width; practical tempo, volume and texture controls keep a larger single-column reading route below.

## Color and surfaces

Dark burgundy establishes the canvas and a slightly lighter wine surface holds the instrument. Warm white carries essential information; electric cyan identifies membrane lines, meter fills and the main action. A readable muted pink supports secondary labels. Warm amber outlines keyboard focus. Generated semantic tokens own every interface and drawing color. Translucent line accents remain decorative while labels stay on opaque surfaces, avoiding text contrast dependent on a changing luminous drawing.

## Layout A

A begins with a direct invitation and a concise explanation of the three voices. Transport, volume and actual status precede three broad horizontal membrane lanes. Each lane includes its name, original drawing, description, intensity output and native range. Tempo, texture and new-variant controls follow. Three mood recipes then provide alternative starting points before a readable current recipe and explicit local save/restore/remove actions. A final explanation describes finite playback and truthful silent behavior.

## Layout B

B opens a recipe workshop rather than repeating a full-width score. Three descriptive mood records occupy a left index, while transport and three tall vertical channels occupy the right instrument. Tempo and texture sit beneath the channel set. The retained recipe and practical explanation follow the working spread. Phones place the recipe index before a compact three-channel instrument and full-width practical controls. This changes navigation, information priority and membrane orientation while keeping the same working model.

## Imagery

Original inline SVG polylines describe five light traces within each membrane. Texture choices use distinct authored wave structures; intensity changes their extent and stable meter. Horizontal and vertical orientations use the same mathematical source rather than unrelated images. All meaningful settings remain ordinary HTML text. No stock image, 3D model, recording, font binary or runtime CDN is needed. The empty asset registry is intentional because the drawings and synthesized sounds are authored inside the reference code.

## Navigation and interaction

Visible links reach instrument, moods and recipe and open the actual sibling reference. Native ranges control three independent layer gains, tempo and master volume. Texture changes both the drawing and real noise filter/tone relationship. Mute controls the master gain. A new variant rotates actual channel order and selects a visible parameter combination. Saving writes a validated versioned recipe to one local key; restoring is explicit and never starts sound. Invalid or blocked storage produces an honest message and leaves editing available.

## Motion

The initial finite lane-alignment episode settles without audio or pulsation. Explicit start introduces pulse over 600 milliseconds; pulses follow current tempo during at most eight bars. Tempo interpolates to its target over one current bar. Texture crossfades original patterns over 400 milliseconds, and a new variant visibly reorders actual channels over 700 milliseconds. Pause, offscreen and hidden-document handling stop playback; returning never restarts sound automatically. Reduced motion shows stable intensity-linked traces and meters while preserving all sound controls.

## Responsive behavior

Desktop A gives each horizontal lane broad space and keeps practical controls beneath the score. B uses a narrow mood index and three tall channels. Tablet gaps and control columns contract before the index stacks. At 390 and 360 pixels all channels are vertical readable strips with labels, outputs and real ranges. Transport wraps, volume occupies the full width and tempo/texture controls follow in a single column. The complete instrument remains inside the document width without a hidden gesture or fixed overlay.

## Accessibility

Use one h1, a main landmark, skip link, descriptive labels and visible focus. Each source has a readable explanation and intensity output, so understanding the composition does not depend on hearing. Native buttons expose mute and motion-pause state. Real audio status explains running, stopped and silent fallback states. Saving and restoration provide explicit outcome messages. The recipe is readable prose rather than an unexplained internal object. Actual browser, keyboard, storage and audio checks are recorded separately from the visual rubric and do not imply certification.

## Adaptation

Replace the fictional project and preset descriptions with approved content while retaining three independent source roles and a truthful local recipe. New synthesis may use licensed sound assets only with explicit redistribution evidence. Keep tempo bounds, finite playback and user-start gating visible. Other frameworks can supply their own component state while preserving semantic transport and ranges. A saved recipe describes settings, not an audio recording; production recording, cloud sync or sharing requires an explicit product integration rather than a misleading success state.

## Avoid

Exactly three deviations break this direction: automatic sound or audio that continues after the instrument is hidden; decorative pulses that ignore actual tempo and intensity; and a saved-recipe message when storage failed or a restore that silently starts playback. Avoid opaque experimental entry rituals. The three layer names, real controls and current recipe must remain understandable before the visitor chooses to listen.

## Closest styles

Resonant Ribbon uses a continuing wooden material strip, manufacturing stages and a three-instrument macro gallery with optional short sound samples. Here three independent light membranes, continuous parameter control, finite multivoice synthesis and a retained recipe change imagery, navigation and task structure. Kinetic Type uses enormous campaign words and curated day programmes. Here an instrument score or channel workbench, measured intensities and a live visible recipe replace word fields and day navigation. Actual ready phone and desktop comparisons establish these differences beyond typography or color alone.
