ONE STRIP OF PAINTED WOOD
01 / RibbonA painted wood study

The ribbon stops at the end of each stage.

Painted wood instruments

Instruments
from one
ribbon.

Pick an outline, a tone and a wood colour, then hear a short synthesised sample.

A single wooden ribbon closed into a loop.

Three stages

How the ribbon
becomes an instrument.

01

From a ribbon

It starts as a straight strip of painted wood.

02

Through a light arc

The strip is bent into a slight arc. The animation stops here so you can look at it.

03

Into the instrument outline

The ends meet and close into the body outline. This is a design idea, not making instructions.

Tone

Choose a warm, clear
or rhythmic tone.

Your choice changes how tense the ribbon looks and the sound sketch. You don't need sound to understand the choice.

Warm: softer tension and a low, round tone.

Sound is off. The sample is short and synthesised.

Press "Try the ribbon" or change the character while sound is on.

Enquiry

Pick a wood colour
and copy the enquiry.

The enquiry text lists your outline, tone and wood colour. It is not sent anywhere.
